LET´S MOVE COMMUNITY PROGRAMS
The Let’s MOVE (Motivating Ourselves Via Expression) Community Programs were established to promote the art of ballet and engage the community through dance exposing youths to the inspirational, transformative, and curative potential of dance.
Incorporating the National Dance Institute Teaching Excellence method, SCB outreach faculty specialize in using technique to get children’s minds and bodies moving while learning that joyful effort, tenacity, and teamwork equals success in life.
Outreach faculty are required to participate in continuing education seminars to remain dynamic and skilled in linking health, education, and the benefits of an active and healthy lifestyle.
Currently we offer two community programs – the Expressive Therapy Program and the Outreach Program.
The Expressive Therapy Program uses movement to improve emotional, social, cognitive, and physical health and well-being. Aside from the physical benefits of increased strength, flexibility, and coordination, dance therapy promotes mental health benefits such as stress, anxiety, and depression relief and explores the connection between movement and emotions. The healing power of dance is a powerful way to express personal feelings, develop coping skills, discover strengths, and build self-awareness.
The Outreach Program is a movement based residential program for elementary school children. The program is designed as a youth arts engagement opportunity, giving students access to dance instruction and the benefits of an arts education. Specially trained dance faculty help students develop new skills, confidence, and attitude through active participation, self-discovery, and creativity.
